Solid Copper Chief Lantern
with Brass Trim
The classic Chief's
Lantern
in solid copper with brass trim. This is a fine replica of
the chief of the boats' lantern aboard 19th Century sailing
ships. Constructed of
heavy gage solid copper with glass sides and heavy brass
trim.
These lanterns were a mistake in production and only 10 were
made before the error was noticed. The error being they were
made with solid brass hoods (tops) and brass cage bars.
These are destined to become collector's pieces in the very
near future as no more will be made like this.
Lanterns such as these were used extensively aboard sailing
vessels from the late 1700's until well into the 19th
Century. Some can even be found
aboard sailing ships to this day.
This lantern will always
be a hit on a patio or deck or aboard your own boat or
yacht. A romantic table light casting a nostalgic glow in
any setting. Easily converted to
electric.
